Getting Started
Quick Start: Inviting & Activating News.gg
Connect News.gg to your Discord server in under two minutes with zero YAML or bot hosting required.
Click "Add to Discord" or use the official OAuth2 invite. You will need "Manage Server" or "Administrator" permissions on your target Discord guild.
Select your target server from the Discord authorization dropdown.
Verify the default permissions: Send Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files, Read Message History, and Use External Emojis.
Complete the Discord verification captcha to finish the invite.

Sign in to the News.gg Dashboard
Open the web dashboard at newsdiscordbot.xyz and sign in with your Discord account to synchronize your managed servers automatically.
Navigate to Dashboard in the top navigation.
Authorize your Discord login to view servers where you have administrative access.
Select your server from the server grid or top server switcher.

Run /setup and Configure Feeds in the Dashboard
Type /setup in any channel — News.gg replies with the official dashboard link. All feeds (news, countries, topics, RSS, MarketPulse) are configured on the web dashboard.
Open newsdiscordbot.xyz and log in with your Discord account.
Select your server, then open the plugins: Setup News, Setup RSS, MarketPulse and more.
Send a test delivery from the dashboard to confirm write permissions.

Automated Global News Feeds
Configure real-time wire feeds spanning world affairs, technology, finance, entertainment, and science.
From your server dashboard, select "Plugins" from the sidebar and click "Setup News" under the Essentials module group.

Select News Categories & Language Regions
Choose which topics to track. News.gg aggregates verified stories from over 450 verified wire sources.
Topics: World News, US National, Technology & AI, Business & Wall St, Science, Sports, Entertainment.
Language & Region: Filter news by country (US, UK, EU, Japan, Latin America, etc.) or multi-language wire translation.

Assign Target Discord Channel & Role Notifications
Designate the channel where articles will be posted. You can optionally configure role mentions.
Channel: Select your designated public channel (e.g. #world-news or #tech-wire).
Notification: Set mention mode to Silent, @here for urgent stories, or a dedicated @News notification role.

Tune Delivery Cadence & Layout
Choose between Real-Time instant push alerts, hourly aggregated roundups, or twice-daily digest briefings.

Insider Trading: SEC Form 4 Transaction Alerts
Stream real-time insider transactions — executive buys, C-suite dispositions, and director trades — straight from SEC Form 4 filings into your Discord with color-coded embeds and conviction badges.
Whenever a director, officer, or >10% shareholder of a public company buys or sells shares, the SEC requires a Form 4 filing — usually within 2 business days. News.gg monitors these filings via the Finnhub API and streams the freshest ones to your server.
BUY (Purchase) — the insider spent their own money to acquire more shares, a classic bullish confidence signal
SELL (Disposition) — shares were disposed of; often routine (taxes, diversification) but large sales can be bearish
Post-Trade Ownership shows how many shares the insider still holds after the transaction

Enable the Insider Trading Module
Open the dashboard, pick your server, and go to Plugins > Setup Market > Insider Trading. Toggle the module on and choose the Discord channel that should receive the alerts.
By default the module tracks only the tickers you list (comma-separated). Flip Market-Wide Tracking ON to receive transactions for every SEC-registered company — ideal for large trading servers running a dedicated #insider-trades channel.
Ticker mode — high signal-to-noise, only companies your community actually trades
Market-wide mode — up to 5 freshest Form 4 filings per scan cycle, every 2 hours
Only filings less than 7 days old are delivered, so alerts are always fresh

Customize Buy & Sell Embed Colors
In Insider Trading Settings you can set the exact border color for each direction. Buys default to green (#22C55E) and sells to red (#EF4444), but any hex value works — e.g. make buys gold 💰 and sells orange to match your server branding.

Read the Conviction Badges
Every embed is scored automatically so your members can filter signal from noise:
💎 Large Trade — total value of $500K or more on a purchase
⭐ Open Market Buy — standard purchase below the large-trade threshold
⚠️ Major Sale — $1M+ disposition, worth investigating
📊 Routine Disposition — smaller sale, usually tax or diversification related

How It Feeds the Confluence Engine
Every insider trade is recorded as a signal in the Confluence Engine. When an insider BUY stacks with other bullish signals — unusual options flow, whale accumulation, analyst upgrades — the engine raises the conviction score for that ticker and can fire a multi-signal confluence alert.
CEO/CFO purchases register as insider_buy_exec (highest weight)
Director purchases register as insider_buy_director
Sales register as insider_sell (bearish direction)

Understand the Data Fields
Each alert contains: Company + ticker, insider name and title, the action, exact shares traded, trade price and total dollar value, post-trade ownership, plus both the trade date and the SEC filing date. Data is sourced from Finnhub with automatic API key rotation for maximum reliability.

Plan Limits
Free servers scan with the standard 2-hour cooldown and ticker watchlists. Premium unlocks Market-Wide tracking at full speed, priority Finnhub throughput, and the full Confluence Engine scoring for insider signals.
